With our new Gleanser + SA (Salicylic Acid) we wanted to further address excess sebum and oilier skin issues as well as offering gentle exfoliation as an additional option for those users looking to enhance their cleansing routine. We are excited to confirm that Gleanser + SA has the same great plush and slippy texture as our original Gleanser.
Why We Created Gleanser SA
Dr. Ellis believes cleansing your skin is one of the most important steps in any skincare routine but can be one of the most irritating. Gleanser is a hero product in the Prequel lineup and works to cleanse the skin without stripping it. We realized adding different ingredients to Gleanser while maintaining the benefits of glycerin could help target additional benefits. That’s where Gleanser + SA comes in.
Formulated with salicylic acid, a well studied ingredient that is beneficial for the skin, our new Gleanser + SA cleanser performs on the skin to disrupt the glue between skin cells which promotes gentle exfoliation and encourages cellular renewal for smoother, clearer looking skin.
If not formulated correctly, salicylic acid in combination with surfactants can reduce skin sebum but can also exacerbate skin dryness. We wanted to create a non-drying salicylic acid cleanser that gave the benefits of salicylic acid without compromising the skin barrier. This unique skin softening cleanser is clinically tested for 24 hours of hydration after a single use and works for most skin types. Skin is left radiant and smooth while keeping your skin barrier intact.
Which Skin Types Should Use Gleanser SA?
Our Gleanser + SA cleanser contains: 50% Glycerin: that prevents surfactants from disturbing the skin’s barrier resulting in more hydration and less irritation. Zinc PCA is a zinc salt combined with L-PCA, a natural moisturizing factor (NMF), known to help normalize sebum production as well as delivering beneficial hydration. Succinic acid is a type of gentle facial acid that helps visually brighten the skin. It also has soothing and antioxidant benefits. Succinic acid has been compared in its function to hyaluronic acid. With these additional ingredients added to help reduce excess sebum and enhance textured, our Gleanser + SA is especially effective for those that have oily or congested skin. It is also recommended for mature skin types as the gentle exfoliation contributes to a visually improved skin tone and texture.
Can I Use Gleaner SA Daily?
Our Gleanser + SA is formulated with 1.0% Sub-Micron Encapsulated Salicylic Acid. The encapsulation allows for better adherence to the skin in a rinse-off product for optimal efficacy. It also provides a controlled, extended release of salicylic acid which minimizes any sudden drop in skin pH which can lead to irritation and dryness. The enhanced deposition with reduced irritation potential makes it both effective and safe for daily use.
Add our new cleanser to your skincare routine when you need a little more of a refresh. It helps to exfoliate and renew for a more radiant looking complexion. The lipid core of the encapsulation also contains linoleic rich oil to soften the skin without clogging pores. It feels super slippy and comfortable on the skin. And never dry or tight.

Can I Use Both Gleanser & Gleaner SA?
It’s not necessary to use both at the same time but yes, you can alternate as needed or use one on just your face and one on your body as it relates to your skin care needs.

Is Gleanser SA Safe for Those with Eczema or Psoriasis?
Our Gleanser + SA is fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and tested for non-comedogenic results. It’s suitable for most skin types and safe for sensitive, eczema prone and psoriasis prone skin types but we always recommend patch testing on a small area before full use and to slowly incorporate it into your routine as you listen to how your skin responds. While glycerin is generally tolerated by all skin types, high levels of glycerin can provide a warming effect which may not be desired for those with sensitivities. It is always important to discontinue use if any adverse reactions occur.
